Tremor detections in south-central Alaska from 2007–2015 and 2016–2018
This dataset contains an updated version of the catalog of tremor in south-central Alaska described in:
Wech, A.G., 2016, Extending Alaska’s plate boundary—Tectonic tremor generated by Yakutat subduction: Geology, v. 44, no. 7, p. 587–590. [Also available at https://doi.org/10.1130/G37817.1.]
The original catalog spans from 2007 to 2015, and the update extends tremor detection coverage further east from 2016 to 2018. The original 2007–2015 catalog and approach are well documented in Wech (2016) with details provided in its accompanying supplementary material. Tremor detection was performed using an automated envelope cross-correlation methodology described in:
Wech, A.G., and Creager, K.C., 2008, Automated detection and location of Cascadia tremor: Geophysical Research Letters, v. 35, no. 20. [Also available at https://doi.org/10.1029/2008GL035458.]
To systematically catalog tremor using enveloc software:
Wech, A.G., 2026, enveloc (Version 1.2.0): U.S. Geological Survey software release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P13L3AR7.
The same underlying methodologies are used in generating the 2016–2018 catalog, with minor parameter changes. The resulting two catalogs are separate, but related, datasets with some geographic overlap. A summary of the general methodology, along with details of the processing differences, is provided in the README.md file.
