Data Collection and Curation for Increasing the Efficiency of Multi-Resource Assessments
Detailed Description
This presentation summarizes U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) efforts to preserve energy resource assessment data for internal reuse and make selected data and derived products available to the public. Sean T. Brennan, a supervisory research geologist with the USGS Geology, Energy & Minerals Science Center, presented this work at the Illinois Basin Collaboration & Insights: Advancing a Multi-Resource Future conference, held September 2–3, 2026, at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. Preserving these data, metadata, and derived products, supports their reuse and comparison of results, improves the efficiency of future multi-resource assessments, and enables scientific research and exploration by public users.
