Detailed Description
White prickly poppies (Argemone albiflora) bloom in abundance in the wetter bottomlands along the lower stream valleys and along the Rio Grande in southern Big Bend National Park. The dryer rocky alluvial fan surfaces are dominated by creosote bushes (Larrea tridentata) (USDA, [2010]). The Mules Ears are a prominent set of eroded igneous dikes of Tertiary age. This view is looking north from the River Road.
