‘Akaiapōlā’au

‘Akaiapōlā‘au are most commonly recognized and known for their sharp, curved beak which is used to tap the bark of trees to find spiders and other insects. Due to their beak and feeding behavior, they are often referred to as the “Hawaiian woodpecker.”  Courtesy National Park Service.
