Detailed Description

View looking downstream from the White House Overlook. The cliffs on the left show streaks of desert varnish. The surface of the Defiance Plateau is capped by Shinarump Conglomerate. These sedimentary layers gently dip to the west. Cretaceous sedimentary rocks cap Black Mesa in the distance (to the west).
