Cave sampling in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Detailed Description
USGS scientists Alan Cressler, Mindi Dalton, Dan Calhoun, Clint Smith, and Jamie Barichivich pose for a group photo outside of Gregory's Cave in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. The team was there to collect water and swab salamanders for Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (BD) fungus. The disposable suits help prevent spreading the fungus between caves.
