Changes in the landscape of Mount St. Helens since 1980.
Detailed Description
Mount St. Helens, Washington, seized the world's attention in 1980 when the largest historical landslide on Earth and a powerful explosive eruption reshaped the volcano and dramatically modified the surrounding landscape. A newly-released USGS Fact Sheet (2013-3014) highlights the changes from the catastrophic May 18, 1980 eruption to the dome building of 2004-2008.
