Collecting Geophysical Data, Fort Irwin National Training Center
Detailed Description
USGS Hydrologist, Krishangi Groover, lays wire in preparation for geophysical data collection at the U.S. Army's Fort Irwin National Training Center in California. The metal bits on this wire connect to metal stakes (one can be seen in the foreground), which allows for the transmission of electricity into the ground to measure sediment properties. This geophysical data will be used to help characterize the basin to determine how easily the groundwater can be recharged.
