Colorado River, Grand Canyon, River Mile 52.8, Nankoweap Creek, Downstream View from River Right, 2010
Detailed Description
September 18, 2010: Colorado River, Grand Canyon, River Mile 52.8, Nankoweap Creek, Downstream View from River Right. Sandbars continue to decrease in exposed area owing to erosion and establishment of vegetation, both native mesquite and non-native tamarisk. The mesquite are leafed out in this late-summer view, giving them a denser appearance than in the winters of 1890 and 1991. New brittlebush are apparent in the foreground, and Mormon tea persist from 1890. Stake no. s1424b in the Collection. Photo credit: Bill Lemke.
