Cyanobacteria bloom at Lake Washington Park, NY
Detailed Description
Washington Park Lake is a man-made body of water nestled inside an urban park in Albany, New York. Because the lake is shallow and has slow-moving water, it is susceptible to accumulating nutrient runoff (like fertilizers or organic debris). When hot summer temperatures combine with stagnant, nutrient-rich water, cyanobacteria cam form as bright green surface film.
