Drill Rig at the Mt. Elbert Test Site
Detailed Description
In 2007, a partnership of government and industry scientists assembled at Mt. Elbert in the North Slope of Alaska. Prior to drilling a test core, a road and wellpad had to be constructed over the ice. Then the drill rig was moved into place and a camp was constructed near the rig. Both cold and warm labs were constructed for sample analysis. Photograph credit: Tim Collett, USGS
