Detailed Description
On Thursday, February 26, USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientists completed a monitoring helicopter overflight of Halema‘uma‘u crater at the summit of Kīlauea. As seen in this overview photo of the crater looking to the west-southwest, conditions were extremely hazy during the flight, presenting a challenge as the scientists attempted to capture mapping photos.
