Detailed Description

View of the Big Fill from the Central Pacific Grade. The Union Pacific chose to build a temporary wooden trestle across the ravine below the Big Fill. The trestle was removed after the Union Pacific abandoned the rail line in favor of the Central Pacific's sturdier Big Fill construction (NPS, [2010f]).
