Lake Mead - creosote bush

Detailed Description

Creosote bush dominates the alluvial fans in the valley of Callville Wash. This view is from the Northshore Road near milepost 18. In the distance, steeply dipping strata crop out in the mountainsides in the region called the Bowl of Fire. The Bowl of Fire gets its name for the bright red-colored Aztec Sandstone of Early Jurassic age that crops out between hogback ridges of older and younger strata.
