Lehman Cave

Detailed Description

Lehman Caves are one of the highest "show cave" systems in the world. "Show cave" means that trails and lighting were added to make the trails accessible to public tours. The caverns are at nearly 7,000 feet elevation. The entrance and exit to the caves have been modified to give visitors easy access, yet are also designed with double sets of doors to reduce airflow into the caverns from artificial sources. Although Lehman Caves are not large (relative to Mammoth Cave or Carlsbad Caverns), they are highly decorated with travertine speleothem formations that make them among the most colorful and attractive public caves in the western United States.
