Detailed Description

Mahoning Creek at Mahoning Creek Dam, PA (USGS 03036000, WQN-0819) has a drainage area of 344 square miles. The site is near the junction of Mahoning, Redbank, and Wayne Townships in Armstrong County. It is one of about 124 water-quality sampling sites throughout Pennsylvania that constitutes Pennsylvania's Statewide Surface Water-Quality Monitoring Network (WQN), a cooperative program between Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the USGS. About one third of the sites are sampled every month, and the remaining sites are sample every-other month.
