Colombian officials visited Mount Rainier, Washington, to observe and learn about U.S. emergency response systems and share their experiences from the catastrophic 1985 eruption of Nevado del Ruiz volcano. The Colombia-US Bi-national Exchange encourages emergency planners and hazard officials to work together for the benefit of all communities affected by volcano hazards.
