MODFLOW Output Visualization

This map shows estimated depth to the water table for the continental United States.  The depth was calculated from simulated water levels using the parallel capabilities of MODFLOW 6.  The parallel simulation solved steady state groundwater flow for 256 tightly coupled model domains (shown in black) distributed over 256 cores on a USGS supercomputer.  The parallel simulation is based on the one-layer groundwater flow models described by Zell and Sanford (2020).
