Mountain goats have become year-round residents at Mount St. Helens.

While conducting routine field work at Mount St. Helens, 13-14 mountain goats were spotted one-half mile upstream of Loowit Falls. The goats probably travelled from nearby Mount Adams or Goat Rocks to find new habitat.
