Nine-banded armadillo photographed by a trail camera

Detailed Description

USGS researchers from the Michigan Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit have found that the nine-banded armadillo has expanded its range to cover all of Missouri, southern Iowa, parts of Kansas and Illinois, northern and eastern Indiana, eastern Kentucky and Tennessee, and nearly all of South Carolina and Georgia, as well as the western third of North Carolina. Their distribution model suggests significant potential for further expansion in the Eastern U.S. This information aids managers in proactively addressing potential conflicts with the species.
