Detailed Description

Snow turns to ice and can make hiking hazardous. This view is along the Bright Angel Trail where it ascends through the escarpment of the Kaibab Limestone near the trailhead on the South Rim. The upper of two tunnels along the Bright Angel Trail is visible in the distance.
