Rapid responding scientists arrive to measure water levels post-Helene

Detailed Description

USGS Scientists Justin Birchler, Jessica Gorski and Emily Johnson scout storm surge waterlines after Hurricane Helene. Storm surge floods coastal areas creating and moving debris.  This debris will remain behind, marking the high-water lines on structures. Scientists use these water lines to evaluate maximum surge levels and verify model accuracy.
