Sand from the beach was washed into roads and structures by the power of hurricane Helene

USGS Scientists respond rapidly to storms but make certain it's safe before getting on scene. Typically responding within 3-5 days of the hazard, some recovery may have already started like clearing of sand from parking areas. The sand (in some places over 2 feet deep) was brought in with storm surge during Hurricane Helene.
