Scattered Douglas fir trees (Pseudotsuga menziesii) dot areas of otherwise contiguous sagebrush steppe. Studies have shown even low amounts of tree cover can influence habitat use by sagebrush associated birds, including the greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus).
