Stream in Arkansas

USGS researchers at the Arkansas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit are working with partners on a model to simulate stream water withdrawals in natural flow regimes of the Interior Highlands with and without monitoring. The Arkansas Method, which is less conservative than other methods, protected natural flow regimes when withdrawals were monitored and stopped as streams approached monthly minimum flows. This approach can be used to provide similar assessments of water management for conserving natural flow regimes by agricultural producers and industry.
