Sweeping Ash off Plane at Quito's International Airport ...

Detailed Description

Workers carefully clean ash off a passenger jet at Quito's international airport which was covered with ash from the 3 November 2002 eruption of Reventador Volcano, located ~60 miles to the east of the Ecuadorean capital. Note how engine cowlings are covered with plastic sheeting to prevent ash from entering the engines during clean up.
