Taskinas Creek at York River State Park in James City County, Va

Detailed Description

Mike Whetstone of Richmond, Va., kayaks through marsh on Taskinas Creek at York River State Park in James City County, Va., on Nov. 18, 2018. "It's beautiful back there," said Whetstone, who recalled paddling the marsh at a different time of year and seeing numerous fiddler crabs scattering from the muddy banks of the creek. "There were just thousands of them that day." York River State Park consists of 2,536 acres along 3.5 miles of the York River, and is part of the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve Virginia. It features over 30 miles of day-use hiking, biking and equestrian trails, a visitor center and ADA amenities. (Photo by Will Parson/Chesapeake Bay Program)
