South side of Halema‘uma‘u at the summit of Kīlauea Volcano, showing a short section of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park's Crater Rim Drive (arrow) preserved on a block of the former caldera floor that has dropped down about 80 m (260 ft). Thinly bedded Kīlauea explosion deposits (E) from 16th–18th centuries are overlain by 19th and 20th century lava flows in the wall of Halema‘uma‘u.
