Detailed Description
Homeless families gathered outside their tents on a hillside overlooking Dichato, Chile. USGS seismologist Walter Mooney (orange shirt and white vest) interviewed these tsunami survivors to learn how they saved their lives. The tsunami arrived about 15 minutes after the M 8.8 earthquake occurred on Feb. 27, 2010.
