Two pressure sensors were retrieved from Madeira Beach, where nearly two feet (vertically) of sand was lost from the beach
Detailed Description
While scientists are gathering data, their photos also serve to visually document the extent of damage when a hazard (like Hurricane Helene in 2024) impacts a community. Here you can see the damage done by Helene's storm surge and waves to break through a wall and wash away the sand from under a pedestrian platform. You can also see the exposed groin that was previously buried under approximately 2 feet of sand at Madeira Beach, FL.
