Zeta likely to cause more erosion on hard-hit Gulf beaches

Detailed Description

The USGS coastal change forecast of Oct. 27, 2020 for Zeta, expected to make landfall late on Oct. 28 as a hurricane, predicts extensive damage on beaches and barrier islands already eroded by earlier 2020 hurricanes. The inner strip shows the likelihood that dunes will be eroded at their bases. The middle strip shows the forecast for overwash, with waves breaking over the dunes. The outer strip forecasts inundation, with dunes continuously submerged and flooding behind them.
