Bison in Theodore Roosevelt National Park
Detailed Description
USGS researchers and collaborators are currently studying the grazing behavior of bison in Theodore Roosevelt National Park to determine the effects of ungulates on vegetation in the park. These studies will support park managers in maintaining healthy bison herds, conserving critical habitat, and sustaining outdoor recreation.
This video was shot from a slowly moving car. It begins with a shot of four adult bison and a bison calf, walking along the bottom of a green and yellow hillside in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. As the camera moves along, prairie dogs run across the ground from mound to mound, some bison leave the frame and new bison come into frame.
