Earth MRI: A journey beneath the east coast (AD)

The USGS Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI) is accelerating modern geological and geophysical mapping across the Eastern United States and the nation. 

Through partnerships with state surveys, federal agencies, Tribes, universities, and industry, Earth MRI applies advanced technologies to fill gaps in geologic knowledge—particularly across the East Coast’s diverse terrains, from the rugged Appalachians to low‑lying coastal plains. The video highlights how comprehensive geophysical, geochemical, and mapping data are revealing untapped resources, improving natural disaster preparedness and strengthening domestic supply chains for critical minerals throughout the Eastern U.S.
