H1 West Transect – 2015

Permanent Site: H1 West Transect; Depth: 5.7 Meters (Feet 18.6); Distance from river mouth: 2.4 Kilometers (1.5 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 4 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.14803012,-123.53535558; Site Description: This is a shallow site and one of the farthest removed from the effects of the sediment plume outside of the control sites. Substrate is still mainly gravel with some sand and cobble. Seaweed growth of both reds (0:44 seconds) and browns is profuse. Density of seaweeds appears to be at pre-dam removal levels. Nine different species of brown seaweeds are present, including Alaria marginata (0:09, 0:46 seconds), three-ribbed kelp Cymathere triplicata (0:30, 0:50 seconds) and the perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (1:23, 1:47 seconds). Horse clams (Tresus capax) were still abundant. No invertebrates are seen on video due to the dense seaweed cover.
