Detailed Description

Permanent Site: J1 East Transect; Depth: 9.4 Meters (30.8 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 6.7 Kilometers (4.1 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 4 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.13607725,-123.47935008; Site Description: This site is medium depth. Substrates is mainly a gravel/sand mixture. Seaweed density has increased. Seven species of brown seaweed were recorded and consist mainly of the perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (2:48 seconds), Saccharina spp. (1:00 seconds), acid kelp Desmarestia (0:40, 1:31 seconds) and Alaria marginata (0:39, 0:42 seconds). Red seaweed was abundant and found frequently found growing around the base of feather duster tubeworms (0:36, 1:17 seconds). Two tubeworm species are very abundant, Eudistylia vancouveri (0:14, 2:06 seconds) and Schizobranchia insignis, as well as burrowing anemones (Halcampa sp.) and butter clams (Saxidomus gigantea).
