Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 Satellite Constellation
Detailed Description
This video shows how Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 orbit Earth and collect imagery. Each satellite completes an orbit every 99 minutes, makes about 14 full orbits each day, and revisits the same location on Earth every 16 days. The satellites are staggered to provide 8-day repeat coverage of global landmasses. Together, the satellites add about 1,500 scenes to the USGS archive each day.
