The USGS Publications Warehouse is the authoritative resource and public interface to USGS-authored peer-reviewed publications. Users can access metadata about and links to all USGS-authored publications and can obtain free online access to full-text publications published by the USGS. In support of the USGS Public Access Plan, Publications Warehouse also provides information about the embargo dates for publications that will become freely available 12 months after publication beginning October 1, 2016.
The Publications Warehouse is managed by the USGS Library, in collaboration with the Office of Science Quality and Integrity (OSQI), the Science Publishing Network (SPN), USGS Office of Water Information (OWI), National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC), and Office of Enterprise Information (OEI). The USGS Library manages coordination of Publications Warehouse web architecture, metadata management, and digitization efforts. The Library funds OWI to develop and maintain the technical infrastructure and funds the National Wildlife Health Center to provide high quality, standards-based metadata and linkages for citations. The Library coordinates digitization of historic / legacy publications that are stored on Natweb, which is managed by OEI. OSQI guides content inclusion policies and scope and provides IPDS which serves as the TDR for USGS-indexed publications during the embargo period. The SPN is responsible for producing USGS-published scientific publications that are made available through the Publications Warehouse and has supported development enhancements that are critical to USGS science publishing.
