Update Required Lidar Mapping Report Information

The Lidar Mapping Report (LMR) is the most comprehensive document associated with each work unit published by USGS. Currently, reporting of the version of the Lidar Base Specification (LBS) used for each work unit is required in the Lidar Point Cloud (LPC) XML metadata. This revision will add a requirement to report the Base Specification used in the Lidar Mapping Report, along with the LPC XML.

Introduction

The Lidar Mapping Report (LMR) deliverable currently requires data providers to list the quality level of the data, but there is no requirement for the Lidar Mapping Report to include which version of the Lidar Base Specification the data was produced to meet. Adding the Lidar Base Specification version in the Lidar Mapping Report will help users reliably find this information in one location.

Current requirement:

In LBS 2021 Rev. A: Metadata: Metadata Deliverables:
  • The LMR shall also include the following sections:
    • Data Acquisition and Processing including
      • A brief write-up of the project to include the USGS 3DEP Lidar QL and any additional products and services required as part of the task order.

Change to:

(Modifications are in bold text.)

In Metadata: Metadata Deliverables:
  • The LMR shall also include the following sections:
    • Data Acquisition and Processing including
      • A brief write-up of the project to include the applicable version of the USGS Lidar Base Specification the data was produced to meet, USGS 3DEP Lidar QL, and any additional products and services required as part of the task order.
