On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, upgrades to the HVO data infrastructure have caused access interruptions to data on the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) website. HVO will maintain internal access to volcano monitoring data and will continue to report on volcanic activity.

Work to upgrade the HVO data infrastructure began at approximately 1:00 p.m. HST. All monitoring datasets have become temporarily unavailable on the HVO website (webcams, monitoring map station locations, monitoring data plots). We do not currently have an estimate for when these data will be available again.

The HVO public website interruption will not affect internal HVO volcano monitoring data. HVO will maintain internal access to volcano monitoring data and will continue to report on volcanic activity through official notifications distributed via the Volcano Notification Service and news notes posted on the HVO website.

Please note that the Kīlauea summit livestream remains available here: Kīlauea Volcano, Hawaii (Halemaʻumaʻu crater) - YouTube

We apologize for this inconvenience. Please contact askHVO@usgs.gov with any questions or comments.
