In celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary, the USGS Library will host a special art installation in the National Center Art Hallway throughout the months of June, July, and August.

This ongoing exhibition will honor America’s spirit of innovation and exploration by showcasing the Survey’s rich legacy of scientific and surveying achievements.

Visitors to the National Center will have the opportunity to explore a curated selection of artifacts, imagery, and documents that reflect the evolution of surveying practices and the groundbreaking research that has shaped the way we understand and map our world today.

The installation will invite USGS staff and visitors to look back at the milestones that have defined the journey over the Survey’s past, highlighting the dedication, precision, and curiosity that continue to drive scientific discovery. The exhibit will not only commemorate the past but will also inspire a deeper appreciation for the role of science and research in shaping the nation’s progress over the past two and a half centuries.
