Characteristics of thin-skinned style of deformation in the southern Appalachians, and potential hydrocarbon traps
This paper is an attempt to focus attention on the more important characteristics of the thin-skinned style of deformation in the southern Appalachians by presenting a model to illustrate the regional anatomy and to identify likely structures that need additional investigation as possible prospects for hydrocarbon accumulation. Five distinct changes in color of conodonts were utilized to estimate the oil and gas potential of the Southern Appalachians. Refs.
