First-approximation reduction of gravity data with the aid of a programmable pocket calculator

January 1, 1977

The time required to make first-approximation reductions of gravity data in the field or field office can be markedly reduced with the aid of a programmable pocket calculator. Included in this report are programs (supplemented with operation instructions keyed to sample problems) to compute plane surveying data, establish base stations, remove linear time variations, calculate the simple-Bouguer reduction, and determine terrain correction out to zone H on the standard Hammer chart.
