Flume studies with fine and coarse sands

January 1, 1976

This report presents a summary of hydraulic and sediment-transport data for two series of laboratory studies in a recirculating flume. Sands with median diameters of 0.25 and 1.1 millimeters were used in the studies. Velocities and depths were controlled, and the slopes, bed configurations and sediment-transport rates adjusted to the imposed independent variables. Mean depths were varied from about 0.2 to 0.9 meter and mean velocities ranged from about 0.4 to 2.0 meters per second. (Woodard-USGS)
