Measured sections of Ordovician strata in Indiana and Ohio

January 1, 1980

The following sections in Indiana and Ohio are part of the data used in studies of the Upper Ordovician rocks cropping out around the Cincinnati arch. The studies were part of a geologic mapping program by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Kentucky Geological Survey.

Unless otherwise noted sections were measured in the field with Jacob staff and tape. Color names with numbers are based on comparison with the rock chart by Goddard and others (1948).
