January 1, 1990

The Water Resources Division of the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with State, Federal, and other local governmental agencies, obtains a large amount of data pertaining to the water resources of Maine each water year. These data, accumulated during the many water years, constitute a valuable data base for developing an improved understanding of the water resources of the State.

Water resources data for the 1989 water year for Maine consist of records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; stage and contents of lakes and reservoirs; and water levels and water quality of ground-water wells. This report contains discharge records for 51 gaging stations; stage only for 2 gaging stations; contents for 17 lakes and reservoirs; water quality for 13 gaging stations; and water-levels for 30 ground-water wells. Additional water data were collected at other sites, not part of the systematic data collection program, and are published as miscellaneous measurements.
