The Water Resources Division water level recorder rental program; history and operation
The U.S. Geological Survey introduced a new water level recorder in the early 1960 's to automate computation of streamflow records. At the same time it developed a rental program as a means of providing the recorders to field offices. This report documents the experience gained over the past 20 years and offers suggestions for operation of a rental program in the future, as preparation is made to introduce a third generation of water level recorders.
