NSF Programs under this Partnership

There are currently two NSF programs in this partnership. In each, the PhD student will write a short (2-4 page) supplemental grant that is submitted to the relevant NSF program officer. In each, the money will flow to the University and the student will come to the USGS on a volunteer agreement.

Internships are 2-12 months, and can be extended. The programs differ in the students they target, and the deadlines.

GRIP: Graduate Research Internship Program (NSF 16-015)

Students who currently hold a Graduate Research Fellowship are invited to apply under GRIP. Application deadline is May 6, 2017.

INTERN: Non-Academic Research Internships for Graduate Students (NSF 17-091)

This program targets grants funded in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR), Directorate for Engineering (ENG), and Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (OAC) within the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE). Proposals are accepted at any time. There is a June 1 deadline for FY18 funds.
