Allison Mason is a Biologist for the USGS Geology, Energy & Minerals (GEM) Science Center in Reston, VA.

Dr. Allison Mason is a microbial ecologist whose research aims to understand microbial activity in environments impacted by energy production. Her research primarily focuses on investigating microbial metal cycling to better understand microbial contributions to contaminant removal and critical mineral recovery from energy wastes. Dr. Mason joined the U.S. Geological Survey in 2024 as a part of the Geology, Energy, & Minerals Science Center. For more information, please visit the USGS Reston Microbiology Laboratory website.
