Greta Wells, Ph.D.

Greta H. Wells is a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at USGS, where she coordinates geothermal energy research activities between the Volcano Hazards Program and Energy Resources Program. 

I am a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at USGS, coordinating geothermal energy research activities between the Volcano Hazards Program (Natural Hazards Mission Area) and the Energy Resources Program (Geology, Energy, and Minerals Mission Area). I am a geoscientist with a background in hydrology, geomorphology, and natural hazards, with a focus on field-based research in glacial regions. My specific expertise is on glacial lake outburst floods, which I investigated for my postdoc and Ph.D. projects. I have also been involved in international Arctic research collaboration through IASC (International Arctic Science Committee) and ICARP IV (Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning).
