James (Ty) Cope

Ty Cope is a Hydrologic Technician with the USGS, supporting surface-water and groundwater studies through advanced field data collection and analysis. His work focuses on applying modern measurement techniques to operational hydrology, including complex field investigations, data quality assurance, and the development of publishable hydrologic data products.

Ty is a UAS pilot with proficiency in photogrammetric surveying and drone-based surface velocimetry, applying non-contact measurement techniques to derive surface-water discharge and improve streamflow observations. He emphasizes integrating emerging technologies into routine hydrologic monitoring to enhance data accuracy, safety, and efficiency for water-resource studies and cooperative projects.
